Signing in for the first time

You got an email from noreply@getwisteria.com welcoming you to Wisteria. Here’s what to do.

What you should have

  • The email itself, with a temporary password and a sign-in link
  • A device to sign in from — phone, tablet, or laptop. Wisteria works on all three.

If the email is in spam, mark it as not-spam so future emails arrive cleanly.

Tap the link in the email. It opens /login in your browser.

Step 2 — Sign in

Enter your email (the same one the email was sent to) and the temporary password. Tap Sign in.

If the password doesn’t work:

  • Most common cause — you’ve already signed in once and the temporary password was used. Ask your administrator to send a fresh invite.
  • Second most common — leading/trailing spaces when copying. Re-copy from the email and try again.

Step 3 — Set your real password

Wisteria redirects you to /set-password. The temporary password only works for the first sign-in; you have to set a real one before you can do anything else.

Pick a password with:

  • At least 8 characters
  • At least one number
  • At least one letter

Type it twice (to confirm). Tap Set password.

This is the password you’ll use from now on. Wisteria doesn’t show or remember the temporary one.

Step 4 — Land on the dashboard

You’re now on /dashboard — the learner home page.

You’ll see:

  • A welcome banner at the top
  • A list of courses assigned to you, sorted by due date
  • For each course: cover image, title, description, and a “Due in X days” badge if there’s a deadline

If your dashboard is empty, you don’t have any courses assigned yet. Ask your administrator or trainer to confirm you’re in the right department and that courses have been delivered to it.

Step 5 — Start a course

Tap any course card. You’ll land on the course detail page showing all the modules in the course.

Start with the first module. The flow inside a module is: flashcards → quiz → next module.

See Your first lesson for the full first-time walkthrough.

Mobile setup

If you’re on a phone, consider:

  • Adding Wisteria to your home screen. On iPhone: Safari → share button → “Add to Home Screen.” On Android: Chrome menu → “Install app.” This gives you an app icon and a smoother experience.
  • Enabling browser push notifications. When prompted, accept — you’ll get reminders when a course is due.
  • Allowing microphone access if any of your courses have oral quizzes (the prompt appears the first time you try one).

What if you don’t see the welcome email

  • Check spam. Many corporate mail systems hide first-time senders.
  • Whitelist noreply@getwisteria.com — ask IT if you’re not sure how.
  • Ask your administrator to resend. From the Users page, they can click your row → Resend Invite. A fresh temporary password gets emailed.

Temporary password links are valid until used (no time-based expiry on Wisteria’s side, though Supabase has a 24-hour default that some workspaces override). If your link looks expired, asking for a resend solves it.

Forgot your password later

Go to /login, tap Forgot password, enter your email. A reset link arrives via email and is valid for one hour. Tap the link, set a new password, sign in.
